The bags will be ticketed/marked for the final destination, but Customs/Luggage has to be cleared at the first air arrival point in Mexico. If so, then you should have no problems as your baggage should either be ticketed through to your final destination or you baggage will be required to be pick-up, pass through customs, then re-checked to your connecting flight." The train arrives into T2 at the domestic side so walk over to international which is usually less congested - once airside you can walk between the two sides and it is very common now for international flights to depart from the domestic side and vice versa. You probably also have a boarding pass already so take train or other means of transport and enter the secure section of the airport. You probably are on the same ticket so you can drop your luggage at the Aeromexico connection desk. Then you leave Terminal 1 (KLM) via free train or cheap bus or expansive taxi for a quick ride to Terminal 2. Now it is only in place for flights from South America and the Caribbean. It has been put back in place for Christmas. Same with Customs, though I returned on Jan 6 on Lufthansa and thankfully they stopped x-raying incoming luggage which wasted more time. Thus, the immigration lines for foreigners can be very long (and there is no cutting - do not waste time letting people in front of you asking for help). It is the "jumbo hour" as you also have the usual other arrivals from the USA and elsewhere. I agree it can be done and should work, especially if on one ticket, but the problem is the KLM flight arrives at around the same time that Lufthansa, Air France, Iberia and British Airways (BA every other day) arrive.
